The Ussurian pear is the most cold-hardy of all pear species. It is frequently used as a rootstock.
Semi dwarf - Quince BA29-C
This rootstock for quince, medlar and some pear trees. For other non-compatible pear trees, it is possible to use an inter-rootstock.
It is tolerant of moist soils and resistant to crown gall, pear decline, and nematodes. With good cold hardiness, these strong roots allow semi-dwarf trees to be self-supporting.
The percentages given are in relation to the size of a cultivar grafted onto a seedling rootstock. The vigour of the scion cultivar will also influence the eventual size of the tree
