question ?

Plant hardiness refers to a plant’s ability to withstand the climatic conditions of a given region, particularly the coldest winter temperatures recorded.

Québec is divided into several hardiness zones, ranging from 1 (very cold) to 5 (milder). Knowing your zone helps you choose plants suited to your climate.

How do I determine my hardiness zone?

Here is an overview of the main zones in Québec:

  • Zone 5b: Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, Vaudreuil
  • Zone 5a: Montérégie, Lower Laurentians, Gatineau
  • Zone 4b: Québec City, Centre-du-Québec, Trois-Rivières
  • Zone 4a: Beauce, Lévis, Gaspésie (south shore)
  • Zones 3b and 3a: Laurentians, Charlevoix, Saguenay, Bas-du-Fleuve
  • Zones 2a and 1b: Northern regions such as Rouyn-Noranda and Chibougamau

For a more precise search, visit the website of Natural Resources Canada.

To ensure the successful establishment of your plants, follow these steps upon receiving them:

📦 Upon Reception

  • Always keep the roots moist. Do not let them dry out.
  • Plant them as soon as possible after receiving them.

❄️ If You Cannot Plant Immediately

  • Temporary storage: Keep them in a cool place, protected from wind and frost.
  • Heeling in: If the wait lasts more than a few days, bury the roots in the soil and water them.
  • Transplanting: Replant them permanently before the buds start to open.

💧 Before Planting

You can soak the roots in a bucket of water for a few hours (optional) to rehydrate them thoroughly.

We guarantee that our trees are alive and in good health at the time of shipping. Their success afterward depends on several factors: soil quality, sunlight, watering, climate, etc.

🌱 Tips to Ensure Successful Establishment

  • Plant in quality soil and in a location suited to the plant.
  • Mulch and water regularly throughout the first year.

🔍 If Your Tree Does Not Survive

  • Send us an email with detailed photos. We will help you understand the cause.
  • Depending on the care provided, we may offer:
    • A replacement, or
    • A coupon up to the value of the plant for a future order.

Each case is evaluated individually.*
Discussions are conducted in good faith and with mutual respect. Any inappropriate behavior or language will not be tolerated.

Currently, we are open by appointment only for online order pickups.
Our store will soon open without an appointment—follow us for updates!

With more than 400 varieties of fruit trees spread over nearly 15 hectares of forest, our site is becoming and remains the largest edible forest in permaculture in the country. You will also find facilities designed to offer you a unique experience of discovery in the heart of an exceptional natural environment.

  • We grow our plants without any chemical inputs and prioritize organic sources. While we do not hold an official certification, our standards, guidelines, and specifications are specifically adapted to the ecological reality of our region. We are committed to preserving the environment while promoting sustainable and responsible production.
  • Our needs are constantly evolving, and opportunities may arise at any time. We invite anyone interested to send us their resume at info@recoltesauvage.com, whether for work on the farm, in the orchard, or in the processing facility.
  • Yes, absolutely! We encourage the reuse of pots to give them a second life. You can bring them back to us so we can clean and reuse them in our nursery. A small gesture for the environment that makes a big difference! 🌱
